Question by RioGuy: How come all you see in websites for jobs is “sales, retail,work from home”???
It’s funny that couple years ago used to find good jobs in Careerbuilder, Monster, Craigslist… but now all I see (and not just me, that’s something me and my friends were talking about the other day)is sales, retail… the “work from home” thing, that tells you you’ll be making some unreal amount of money in a month… ???
I also have a hard time finding “big companys”‘s post online. You have to go to theyr website and get lucky to find job offers.
Does anyone have any idea in how to get more information of “real” and “good” job offers… ?
ps: most of people I know is going through a bad time financially right now… any ideas?

I find the exact same thing when I look online for jobs. I believe that most larger companies use Headhunters or placement agencies when looking to hire, that way the potential employee has already been screened by a trusted source. Try searching for job websites based on the industry that you are searching in, such as IT/Computer jobs, or Finance/Banking jobs.

I know what you are going through. I also tried to find jobs online years ago. Comforting that some things stay the same while others change.
See if you qualify for welfare/medicaid. If you have a chronic illness, you might. I know what it’s like to be broke and unemployed for over a year, so you really need to just keep going to your local employment office and apply for any job you can do or would do with training. You’re in a rough spot and I’m sorry for that. But all you can do is just keep actively seeking work through your county employment office, friends and business contacts, and keep visiting the sites of the larger companies. Somehow something will come through. The more you pound the pavement, the sooner you can find a job.
Man, I really wish I could help more, but there’s really nothing else I know to do.
